THREADS
Strong and reliable thread for bag making
One of the most important elements in bag making is using the right thread – because even the most beautiful fabric and precise cutting won’t hold up without durable seams. In our webshop, you'll find only premium-quality threads carefully selected for bag making, sewing leather, and working with heavy fabrics.
High-strength polyester threads: Thanks to their excellent tensile strength, these threads are perfect for sewing bags, belts, wallets, and other items meant for everyday use.
Wide range of colors: Whether you need classic black and white or vibrant contrasting colors, you'll find the perfect shade for your project.
Suitable for hand and machine sewing: Our threads work well with industrial sewing machines or hand stitching – ideal for both hobby projects and professional use. What thread should you choose for leather or heavy fabrics?
When sewing leather or thick canvas, thread strength is crucial. We recommend thicker polyester or specialized leather sewing thread, which won’t snap under tension and provides a clean, strong stitch.
The thread color also plays a design role: a contrasting stitch can emphasize the seams, while a matching thread blends subtly into the fabric.

1. What kind of thread should I use for bag making?
We recommend strong polyester thread that can handle stress. For thicker materials like leather or canvas, Grade 10 or Grade 20 thread is ideal.
2. What's the difference between Grade 10, 20, and 40 threads?
-
The numbers indicate the thread thickness, and the lower the number, the thicker the thread:
-
Grade 10 = thick (for strong seams or decorative stitching)
-
Grade 20 = medium (great all-purpose bag sewing)
-
Grade 40 = thin (ideal for fine details or textile projects)
-
3. Can I use these threads for hand stitching?
While our Grade 10, 20, and 40 threads can be used for hand sewing, we specifically recommend our "Hand Stitching Leather Thread" for this purpose. It’s thicker and waxed, which gives it a non-slip surface that’s easier to work with and allows for more even stitches.
4. Are these threads suitable for sewing machines?
Yes, they work well with industrial or strong domestic sewing machines. We recommend using stronger needles (e.g., size 110 or 120).
5. How long is each spool?
Thread length varies by type:
-
Grade 40 thread: 120 meters
-
Grade 20 thread: 600 meters
-
Grade 10 thread: 300 meters
-
Hand stitching leather thread: 22.8 meters (waxed)
6. Are these threads available in different colors?
Yes, each thread type comes in a wide variety of colors – black, white, red, blue, and many more.
