A little anatomy of the stud, that is, the parts of the stud:
- Stud head - this is the smaller part, perforated from the inside. This stud has a convex head, not flat. This part is placed on the less visible or completely invisible side of the workpiece, for example, on the inside of a bag, belt, or bracelet.
- Stud foot - this is the long part with the foot. This stud has a flat foot, which is the visible part, and it is placed on the right side of the workpiece, that is, on the outside of the bag, bracelet, or belt.
The stud foot is the stronger, more durable part of the stud; this is the part that will definitely not deform during striking. Therefore, it is practical to insert the stud foot from the color side of the workpiece.
To strike this flat stud, a completely flat surface and a stud striker are needed.
If you have a so-called steel striking anvil, you can strike flat studs on its smooth side, using a convex, size 10 stud striker.
